British Musician Lee MacDougall Talks About Rob and 'How To Be'

Fan site Rob Pattz News had the opportunity to interview up-and-coming British musician Lee MacDougall. Here are a couple excerpts with references to Rob.

'How To Be'

My friend Robert Pattinson told me about a movie he was making called "How To Be" and that he was to play a guy who was a bit of a super loser. He said the guy wanted to be a singer, but couldn't really sing, and his girlfriend dumps him, and he is just generally a bit lost with his life and doesn't really know where he's going. I thought it sounded really funny, and a good idea for a song, and being both actors and musicians struggling to achieve a higher degree of success at the time, I think we could both identify a little with the character. I said that I was going to try and write the theme tune for the movie based on what he had told me and I went home and wrote it in a couple of days. I went back to his house and played it to everyone and everybody really liked it, so I gave Rob a CD to give to the people doing the movie. Unbeknown to us though, I think the soundtrack had already been selected and I was too late, so it never made the cut. I didn't mind too much because soon after I started to play the song live and it got such a great reaction from the crowd that I just decided to keep it for myself. I always have to tell the story behind it when I play it because people still assume it's about me! The amusing thing is, looking back at it though and how I felt at the time, I think it probably is semi-autobiographical.

You play gigs with Lizzy Pattinson once in a while, but fans want to know if you would you like to collaborate with Rob Pattinson musically in the future and have you ever played together?

Yes we have - but only if you count jamming on the piano in his living room! We've never done an actual gig together, although he did used to come and watch my shows in London. Rob is a really natural musician, he's amazing on the piano - although he always claims he doesn't really know what he's doing, but I think he's just very modest. We have quite different styles, but that can often produce the best results. Of course if the chance ever presented itself to collaborate I think it would be great, and a lot of fun. Would you guys like to see Rob and I collaborate? (Us: Yes please!)

Would Robert Pattinson Be An Ideal Choice to Portray British Icon Fletcher Christian?

Food for thought: would Rob be an ideal choice to portray Fletcher Christian in a new film? His name popped up in this article and I must say, the story sounds intriguing.

British icon Fletcher Christian is set to return to the big screen in “Isabella,” a feature film adaptation of the novel by Fiona Mountain. The novel was short listed for the Parker Romantic Novel of the Year.

The project, which is not yet set up at a studio, is set in the English Lake District and details Mr. Christian’s passionate love affair with his cousin, Isabella Curwen – an affair which many believe set the stage for the Bounty mutiny. The story also explores the rumors of Fletcher’s return to England after the mutiny.

As a sweeping historical romance, producer Darren Reagan believes “Isabella” is a unique and highly commercial project. “’Isabella’ is a timeless tragedy like ‘Romeo and Juliet’ combined with the mystery and mythology of the ‘Bounty’ story,” says Reagan.

According to screenwriter Michaela Lewis, “Fletcher Christian remains one of cinema’s iconic antiheros, but previous films barely scratched the surface of Fletcher’s ambitious and flawed family – we’ve never seen the passionate love story that lead to the mutiny.”

Reagan adds, “It’s ironic that no British actor has ever portrayed the legendary mutineer. We think the time has come for someone like Robert Pattinson, Daniel Radcliffe or Jamie Bell to follow in the footsteps of Errol Flynn, Clark Gable and Marlon Brando and portray Fletcher Christian.”

Little Ashes Screened in Holland

Photobucket

On November 10 Little Ashes was screened at the Festival of Literary Masters in Holland. It was shown in a segment of the festival Lorca on Film. Here is a translation from the press release for the event.

LITTLE ASHES
Feature film about the friendship between Lorca, Dali and Bunuel

In the film Little Ashes by British director Paul Morrison, we see a troubled young García Lorca in Madrid 1922.
The film follows him and his friends, the painter Salvador Dali and filmmaker Luis Buñuel. The three meet at university in Madrid and share their ultra-modern artistic aspirations. Three of them to withdraw from the conventional art and brewing idealist plans. As Buñuel to Paris leaves, change the relationship between Lorca and Dali. Their friendship deepens but gradually becomes the blurred boundary between friendship and love.

A new auction had been announced by Charity Buzz; the same company that previously raised over $60,000 for Stand Up to Cancer by auctioning a set visit to Breaking Dawn. Now they're offering again, this time with an added bonus, a meeting with Rob is included in the package. You can view the information here. Bidding started at $3,000 and when I last checked it was up to $10,000. Good luck!
